The Largest ETFE Membrane Structure in Phoenix Mountain Sports Park is Topped

Recently, with the completion of the last process on site, the ETFE membrane structure of the professional football field of the Phoenix Mountain Sports Park project was successfully capped. This is also the largest single-layer ETFE membrane structure used worldwide-27000 SQM.

The membrane structure used in the professional football stadium roof of the Phoenix Mountain Sports Park project is novel and beautiful. The membrane material has an unfolded area of about 27,000 square meters, which is the largest single-layer ETFE membrane structure currently used in the world.

The roof membrane structure of the football field consists of an inner ring membrane and an outer ring membrane (main cable part). A total of 200 ETFE membranes were used during the installation process.

Among them, the inner ring membrane is attached to the chord of the inner ring truss, and the single diaphragm is about 15 square meters, which is similar to a parallelogram; the cable dome structure is arranged in a sunflower shape, with a total of 2 ring cables and 80 radial cables. Cable, 40 struts are set per circle. The cable net membrane surface is equally distributed in diamonds and triangles. The area of the rhombus is about 22 square meters, and the area of the triangle is about 140 square meters.

Phoenix Mountain Sports Park is located in Dujianian Area, Jinniu District, Chengdu. As the core venue of the 31st Summer Universiade in Chengdu in 2021 and the main stadium of the 18th Asian Cup in Chengdu in 2023, it is a thorough implementation of the Chengdu Municipal Committee and Municipal Government The overall strategic plan for the construction of "three cities and three capitals" is a major project for accelerating the pace of construction of world-famous competition cities.

The project covers an area of about 330 acres, with a planned total construction area of about 456,000 square meters, and consists of "one site, one museum and supporting commerce". The “one game” is a professional football field with 60,000 seats that meets FIFA standards, and the “one hall” is a comprehensive stadium with 18,000 seats that meets NBA standards. The supporting commercial building area is about 128,000 square meters. After the project is completed, it will have the function of undertaking top international competitions and top domestic leagues, and become an international top competition center, sports professional training center, sports culture exchange center, sports industry development center and an important landmark building in Chengdu.
